Unveiled Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, on the East High campus was work commissioined by the Urban Art Commission. On either side of the steps that lead to the center patio area of the school are mustang busts made of metal and flanked by attached metal benches. The objects were created by George Schroeder of San Antonio, Texas, who won an Urban Art Commission grant for up to $80,500 for the design, fabrication, and shipment of the works. The request design ideas submitted were evaluated by the East art students.
