In the above photo taken the morning of April 11, 2014, police and security cars line the area in front of the school,  while parents' cars are parked along the driveway as parents either seek more information about the events of the morning and/or remove their children from the school due to those events.

East High was under a lockdown this morning (April 11, 2014) after a student reported a trespasser or trespassers on campus. Law enforcement responded and armed officers conducted initial sweeps of the campus. At 10:28 a.m. the lockdown was lifted. No trespassers had been located. Police have told reporters the early reports were that four trespassers were armed and may have been inside the school, but the school district denies that the original tip indicated anyone was armed. The on-scene response to the incident included school district security, sheriff's deputies, city police, the director of the Memphis Police Department and the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. There are reports there was a fight near the campus yesterday when alleged gang members tried unsuccessfully to recruit some young people. Today, as the trespasser report was being checked, Memphis Police apparently executed a search warrant at a house across Holmes Street from the school. Observers believe of today's events are likely associated with yesterday's attempted gang recruitment and fight.  Sources: WHBQ-TV, The Commercial Appeal, WMC-TV, The East High Alumni Page
