After graduation from east I attended the University of Tennessee for two years. Later I joined the united states coast guard
for sox months. After my schooling and travels I decided to come back to Memphis, and join my father in his business, and am still in the furniture business for the past forty years. In 1968 I married Camille Gattuso, an immaculate conception graduate, we have two grown daughters and four grandchildren. I am very happy with my after east life.and would love for my class to have more reunions.

I attend East High my senior year and had a wonderful senior year. I transferred from a school in Virginia and it was hard changing schools your senior but the Class of '61 welcomed me with open arms. After graduating, I went to college in Texas
but kept in touch a few years but then I got married and started a new life. I moved alot in the last thirty-seven years, mostly in Texas and California.
I returned to Houston in 1998. I have two grown children - one in Texas and one in California - both all still single. I gave up teaching back in the
70's and now I am in the business world and love it. I would love to hear from the class, if they remember me. I still talk about my senior year and all the fun things we did. Email address for now is

I led two lives (at least) after graduating BFA Newcomb College of Tulane University: the first: I was married to an Italian medical student who eventually became a physician and a dentist (dentistry at the time was a faculty of medicine). In that capacity I lived in Italy until 1979 over almost a 13 year period.
The second: My marriage turned sour and I returned home to Memphis the end
of 1979 and miraculously was admitted to UT Dental School in 1980, graduating DDS in 1984. I have practiced dentistry in my dental office in the Poplar Plaza Shopping Center since Feb. 1985. I married a wonderful man in 1996 after a super long term relationship. I kept my maiden name of Crawford because of the investment I had in it as a dentist. Without children, we live a comfortable and happy life. I have regular contacts with Martha McCool Young and with Josephine Learned, both world travelers in their own right. I also get to see Danny Weiss occasionally since he is a well known and highly successful orthodontist.

After leaving East High, I attended Memphis State earning a BS in Chemistry. While studying for a PhD in Pathology at UT, I met Linda Kaye Hussung of Memphis, and we have been married for 37 years. After graduation, I remained at UT Memphis as faculty until 1989. While in Memphis Linda and I were active in First Presbyterian Church, the Memphis Symphony Chorus, and the Opera Memphis Chorus.
In 1989 we moved to Burlington, NC, where I took a position as director of the histocompatibility and paternity testing lab for LabCorp. I have retired from that job, and now direct the HLA Lab at Mid-South Transplant Foundation on a part-time consulting basis. We still live in NC, but I come to Memphis about twice a month to visit the lab (and family and friends). If you're in central North Carolina, drop in or give us a call. We're in the High Point phone book. If you're not coming by, just drop me an email. I'd love to hear from everyone. If you'd like to get together sometime when I'm in Memphis, just let me know.

After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1965 and the University of Texas School of Law in 1968, I traveled to California. In California, I practiced law (mostly in Beverly Hills, CA) for 19 years and moved to the desert (Palm Desert, CA) in 1987. I started a registered investment advisory firm in 1995 and today, I am full-time a registered investment advisor. Our firm is located in Palm Desert and is growing rapidly. In 1995 I married a fabulous woman, Marcia Smith; we enjoy a fabulous relationship. Marcia retired from teaching shortly after we married. Both of us are actively involved in both the local and wider communities as we serve on 14 Boards between us. We stay in touch with some of my East High friends and I was in Memphis to support Chas when he was honored for his great work with the Greater East High Foundation. We would love to hear from any of my old friends. Regards, Rick Stein

After attending East for 12 years, I went to the University of Virginia (along with Ricki Stein and Dave McKinnie), joined Phi Delta Theta, and received a B.A. in Economics. I received an M.B.A after a couple of years at George Washington University in D.C. I married a South Carolina girl, Leila Gibbes, in 1966 and we're still happily married. I went to Navy OCS in Newport RI and served as a supply officer in the Navy for 3 years before settling in Atlanta, where I was an officer with the then C&S Bank (and managed to cross paths with Alan Morris a few times). Moved to Dallas TX for 10 years working for Docutel, the ATM innovator, and Olivetti, the Italian conglomerate. Then came back to Tennessee in 1986 to Nashville. I worked for Envoy Corporation and First Data Corporation for a combined 12 years and then worked as a consultant on my own until 2003. Now Leila and I are enjoying the serenity of retirement living in Nashville and spending several months a year down on the South Carolina coast. We have two married daughters living in Atlanta -- Caroline (b. 1969) and Allison (b. 1972). Caroline had our first grandchild, a girl, in March '06 and Allison is expecting in October '06.

I attended East from 1952 to 1957 before moving to Stuttgart, AR and graduating in 1961. Boy, do I have fond memories of East in those days! Living in apartments at Highland and
Poplar, the Plaza Theater and Mueller Drug Store, then nothing til you got to East! Fondly remember returning in May 1961 and seeing Mr. Snider and some teachers and then finding that a graduation picnic was being held. I had butterflies driving to the site, wondering how my friends had changed in 4 1/2 years. Some of my friends were Danny Weiss, Edwin Holt, Doc Hoffman and there were so many nice gals in that 1961 class! My teachers were Mrs. Nelson, Thornton and Miss Chess among many others and I sure liked Coach Holland. I really hated to move away in 1957, especially since sports were beginning to consume my energies and I wanted to play at East for Holland. I graduated Valedictorian of my class and was happy to find that my standing at East was 4th when I moved away in 1957. I remember being at Elvis' home
twice in 1956, months before he bought Graceland. I was in awe, and if only I had known how great he was to become! I attended Georgia Tech, played football and ran track there before returning to Razorback land and then graduating from Medical School in Little Rock in 1969. I continued to be active in the Sigma Nu Fraternity organization for years. I have participated in the Senior Olympics in Arkansas and managed to win several events in my age group. I have been married 38 years and have three children and 3 grandchildren. All my children were Valedictorians, and I would like to think the education I received at East High was partly responsible for that genetic refinement!! I am now retired from Medicine and spend my
time on a Harley or in a Vette or continuing my Ham Radio hobby of 45 years. I
would like to find some members of the Class of 61 that might remember me from 1952 to 57 and perhaps share some of those good days. Things like Crump Stadium, Russwood Park, Galloway Golf Course, Normal Theater, Park Theater, Chickasaw Golf Course, bus transfers at Crosstown and Poplar, scouting activities, riding bicycles and playing tag and baseball. Boy times have
changes since my first TV in 1954! Thanks for this site and the memories...

I was going to be in the second "12-year club" in 1961,
however, in 1959, Jake Schorr ('58)introduced me to Phil Kellum ('58)
and my life changed. Phil and I will celebrate our 44th wedding
anniversary this year. We have three children and three grandchildren.
We sometimes see East High friends (you know who you are!) even though
we live in the country just one county away. Special "hellos" to:
Sanford, Clyde, Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. Vollmer, Jeddie, Carol E., and my
partner in crime, Lois Ann.

Attending East High from 1st thru the 9th grade, I feel like a member of the class of '61. I graduated from Central High and have continued to enjoy my friends made during the East High days. After a degree in Electrical Engineering, I went to Medical School and specialized in Radiology (Ultrasound and Mammography). My office practice is in Memphis--just 2 blocks away from Central High--Didn't travel very far in life, as yet. East High-Plaza Theater, Bowling Alley, friends in '61 and '62, what a great positive effect all of this had on all of us.
I have led at least three lives--Medicine, Radio and TV Broadcasting Business, and Politics (Shelby County Commission)---I look forward to hearing from my "long time" friends--note I DID NOT say "old".
E-mail or call -- still listed in the Memphis phone book
