Bobby Barret [last updated March, 2008]
Finishing up 30 year university teaching career at UNC-Charlotte and still active in psychology clinical practice. I have lived most of my life here in Charlotte with sojourns in Tampa (67-68), Atlanta (74-78) and San Francisco (89-91). I divorced in 1989 and now live as an out gay man. Much of my professional work has focused on increasing understanding of the lives of sexual minorities. My volunteer work has been with terminally ill cancer patients, people suffering from HIV disease, and lately, parents who have had a child die. I am single and live with Flint the Wonder Dog. I travel as much as I can and love meeting new people and exploring new places. I also am quite captivated by the experience of being a grandfather to ten and see my grandkids often but, due to distance, not regularly as I would wish. I love the outdoors, hiking, biking, no longer running and am a VERY active man. I never did pursue the promising athletic career that started at East High ;-) .

After graduating from HS, went to Rhodes College in Memphis class of 1962 and then to grad school Univ. TN. - Married "Karen" from Miami in 1964 -still married, and we have two daughters and four grandchildren all in Florida now. Had a varied career in business ownership and eventually became a banker and then a mortgage broker in S. FL. After all the hurricane and the downward spiral in housing here, decided to semi-retire and now teach Business Communications to corporations as part of the local junior college and also instruct for a local real estate school. Just love semi-retirement and teaching and spend a lot of time at the gym staying in good shape. Am pleased to say I am not fat, nor bald and am considering launching a new Training Company to work with corporate clients. Life is just great, and I will look forward to attending the next class reunion.

After graduating from Ole Miss in Mar. 1963 I went to USAF pilot training; subsequently got an assignment to helicopter training. After graduation was based at Ellsworth AFB, SD. Had a tour in SEA '66-'67. Got married upon return to US in '67 (wife's name is Barbara) and left Air Force in '69 to join FBI as investigator. Left FBI in '75 and began working for US Dept. of State in Bureau of Diplomatic Security. Worked several years at 3 embassies in Latin America; did a bunch of overseas travel (30+ countries). When stateside I investigated federal crimes involving passport or visa fraud. Retired in July 1997. Current permanent home is in Spearfish, SD. Barbara and I spend 4 or 5 months each winter in Gold Canyon, AZ which is about 30 miles east of Phoenix. Hope to get to the next reunion, if there is one.

Robert Blumer (class of '55) and I recently celebrated our 43rd anniversary. We now have eight grandchildren to chase after, and continue our hobbies of snow skiing, white water canoeing, and most anything else that the knees and other arthritic parts will tolerate. Keep in touch.

Married Charles 46 years ago, never really civilized him. We both graduated from Memphis State and took graduate degrees at Ole Miss. Charles worked on his doctorate at Duke and worked as teacher and headmaster of college prep schools. I taught lower grades for several years in private schools. We have two daughters. Kasie the older one lives nearby, is married to an Asst. U.S. Attorney, has two girls and is home-schooling her eleven year old and trying to keep up with her 20 month old terror. Beth is a forensic psycologist working in NYC at Bellevue Hospital with the criminally insane. Charles retired in 1996 and we moved to the boonies of northern Vermont near Jay Peak Ski Resort. We have always had a house full of cats, dogs, children and their friends. Now we spend as much time as we can with our two granddaughters, play with our pets, feed the birds and critters around our place, hike, read, garden and most of all relax and enjoy the beauty of the Green Mts. Best wishes to all. Hope there will be a 50th Reunion.

Clyde Scott (""Buddy") [last updated February, 2009]
After graduation, I attended Memphis State and my degree was in Industrial Arts Education. After graduation, I entered the USAF as a 2nd Lt and off to navigator training followed by Electronic Warfare training. Was assigned to B-52's, then B-58's, back to B-52's, to Ac-130 Gunships(Viet Nam), a four year stint as an instructor at the USAF Air Ground Operations School then to a tour in RF-4's in England, then as an advisor to the MS Ang in Meridian MS. I retired from that in 1989 as a Colonel. During this time frame, I lived or flew to places all over the world. A very rewarding experience. In 1989 I took on a second career as a Deputy Sheriff teaching D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) in the county schools to 6th graders. This was followed by other positions with the county (Emergency Management Ddirector, and Agri-Center Director). Retired from the county government in 2001. Now am content with my wife (Marilyn), 3 daughters, and 6 grandkids. I live on a quiet, peaceful road outside of Meridian on a 12 acre farm with horses, donkeys and dogs.

Feeling lccky to be able to report new things. I have a trike I got after falling off my bike. It provides transport and exercise and a new appreciation for my surroundings. My world gets smaller but more examined. In a funny twist my local high school has the mustang as its mascot. I'm still quilting and threading my own needles. Not so much bridge. Hope there will be another reunion. Wish I could have made last year's but I was not in good shape. This getting old thing is interesting, but tough.
